Alex “Itchy” Hnatishion, 95, of Frackville, formerly of St. Clair, died Wednesday November 18, 2020, at Broad Mountain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in St. Clair, August 1, 1925, He was a son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Wansolak) Hnatishion.
Alex Hnatishion served in the US Army during WWII, than worked as a Carpenter for Lehigh Valley Railroad.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair, Arnots Game and Sports Association, St. Clair, West End Hose Company and the St. Clair Amvets Post 142. He loved to give Hershey’s Kisses to anyone he saw.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Anna Colna, Mary Beritsky, Julia Everly, Sophie Demko, Rose Scherr; 2 brothers John and Joseph Hnatishion.
Surviving a sister Helen Corby of St. Clair; many nieces and nephews; fiancé Michelena Catizone of Girardville.
Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:15 AM Tuesday Nov. 24, 2020 from St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 North Morris Street St. Clair. The Rev. Monsignor Myron Grabowski will be officiating. . Friends may call at the church from 9:30 -10:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church memorial fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
