Charles J. “Chuckie” Scherer Jr., 71, of Frackville, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born May 6, 1950, in Ashland, he was a son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Hansbury) Scherer.
Charles was employed as a door-to-door salesman for over 30 years by Compact Sweeper Co., Frackville.
Chuckie was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and followed all local sports. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Chuckie was known for quick jokes and constant teasing. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time shooting pool and hanging out with his buddies at Roman’s Lounge and more recently enjoyed playing poker at local bars. Loved by all, Chuckie was one of a kind.
He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Pilconis) Scherer; two daughters, Jessica Sterner, of Frackville, and Jennifer Grant, of New Hampshire; three sons, Charles Scherer III, of Frackville, Michael Scherer and his wife, Megan, of Bloomsburg, and David Scherer, of Frackville; three brothers, Michael (Christine) Scherer, of Lancaster, Richard (Janet) Scherer, of Mahanoy City, and Kevin, of New Jersey; two sisters, Kathleen (Jim) Lawrence, of Lancaster, and Margaret (Carlos) Aldahonda, of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren Katie, Corey, Joey, Kelly, Ryan, Jack, Georgie, Bailey, Bradley, Aiden; one great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville. The Rev. Brian M. Miller will officiate. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Annunciation Cemetery, Frackville. Please stop by and share your Chuckie stories with the family.
