Dolores Marie Hughes (“Dee”), 92, of Saint Clair, passed away Saturday February 9, 2019 at LVHN-Schuylkill East, Pottsville.
Dolores was born February 2, 1927 in Middleport, Pennsylvania, to the late Annibal and Julia (Betrusky) Brito. Dolores was the eldest of five children and left high school to help her mother raise her siblings after her father passed away when she was 16.
She worked as a seamstress during WWII and was devoted to supporting her family.
In 1949 she married Theodore Hughes, and became a mother of 5. She was known for always opening her door and kitchen to many of the neighborhood children and was a fixture in the community. Dolores was a woman of strength and heart, who at 92 did not miss a beat when it came to those that she loved. Dolores was an independent woman, devoted to God and her Catholic faith, and enjoyed cooking and gardening in her earlier years. She will be missed greatly and forever loved by her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore F. Hughes Sr; son Theodore Hughes Jr.; daughter Michelle Sukeena; 2 sisters Marie Dale and Margaret Homa.
Surviving are her daughter Jacqueline Marie Vesay of Hegins; 2 son Mark Hughes and his wife Linda of Barnesville; John Hughes of St. Clair; grandchildren Yvonne E. Hokanson and her husband Lantz; Theodore Hughes and his wife Kimberly; Tiffany Hughes; Sabrina Ash and her husband Nathan; great grandchildren Lilith, Wyatt, Lila, and Emmett Hokanson; Julia and Alexandra Hughes; siblings, Manuel Brito and Emily McDowell. Nieces and Nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Friday, February 15, 2019 from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair, PA 17970 with Monsignor William Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and 8:30-9:00 Friday from Bruce T Hart funeral home at 110 N. Second Street Saint Clair. Burial will follow at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
