Edward L. Halaburda , 93, of 102 Morea Rd, Frackville, died Saturday at his home. Born in Frackville, February 19, 1920 , He was a son of the late Bernard and Josephine (Anascavage) Halaburda. Edward served in the US Army in WWII He retired as a Welder from ITT Meyers Industries , Hazleton. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, Frackville where he served as Chairman; Frackville American Legion Post 398; former Supervisor of West Mahanoy Township; Past President of Altamont Fire Company; Past Treasurer of the South End Field and Stream Association. Ed was a former member of the Coal Crackers Polka Association, he played with several area polka bands and was leader of The Polkateers. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Palmer) Halaburda in 1975; 2 brothers Bernard and Joseph Halaburda. Surviving are daughter Ann Marie Wycheck and her husband George of Frackville; a son Edward Halaburda and his wife Mary Ann of Frackville; a Grandson Edward Halaburda and his wife Lynda of Frackville; a Granddaughter Melissa Fox and her husband Christopher of Barto; 4 Great Grandchildren Joshua Halaburda and his companion Samantha and Jacob Halaburda, Matthew and Nathan Fox; 1 Great-Great Grandson Joshua Edward Halaburda; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday from St. John The Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, 2nd & Oak Street Frackville with the Rev. Robert Plichta officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday with memorial prayers at 7:00 PM and 9:00 – 9:30 AM Thursday at Nice- Hart Funeral Home, Inc. 9 North Lehigh Ave. Frackville, Pa 17931. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Polish National Church Memorial Fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in St. John the Baptist Polish National Cemetery, West Mahanoy Twp.
