Frank Homa Jr

Frank Homa Jr., 81, of 606 Wade Road, St. Clair, died Sunday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

 

Born in St. Clair, December 16, 1933, He was a son of the late Frank Sr. and Mary (Tellup) Homa.

 

 A lifelong resident of St. Clair, he was a 1951 graduate of St. Clair High School.

 

 Frank served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, then joined the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, serving most of his time with the 193 Special Operations Group, Middletown PA.  He retired as a  MSGT in 1993 after serving 42 years of Military Service.  He was employed by the federal government at Ft. Indiantown Gap, Annville retiring in 1983.

 

Frank was especially active in his town's Veteran organizations and events.

He was a life member of St. Clair AMVETS Post 142, serving as Commander for many years.  He also served as 1965 and 1966 AMVETS District 7 Commander.

He was a 61-year member of St. Clair American Legion Post 719, having served as a past Commander, a member of the St. Clair Veterans Honor Guard;  He was also a member of St. Clair Fish and Game Association; St. Clair Old Timers Association; St. Clair Community and Historical Society. 

 

Frank was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair and the former Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church.

 

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Chiccini Homa; 2 daughters Rosanne Pogash and her husband William of Harrisburg; Dorothy Ann Homa of Clinton, UT; Grandaughter Pamela (Pogash) Edler and her husband John; Twin Grandsons Christopher and Kyle Pogash; a sister Mary Dermo and her husband Michael of Pottsville.  Nieces and Nephews.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral

Home, 110 North Second Street St. Clair.   Divine Liturgy will follow at

10:30 AM from St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church 105 N. Morris St. St.

Clair.  Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and 9:00-10:00 Friday from the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St.

Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Memorial Fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
