George Richard Reed, of Frackville, died peacefully May 19, 2022, at his home on his 86th birthday.
Born May 19, 1936, in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late George Samuel and Ruth (Andrews) Reed.
Immediately following his 1954 graduation from Frackville High School, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he was employed with the FBI for 17 years as a latent fingerprint examiner. He continued on with his career he loved at the Washington Metropolitan Police Department until 1989; a total of 34½ years of dedicated service.
He also served in the Army.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville.
Surviving are his wife of over 57 years, Mary (Chuma) Reed; two daughters, Christine Reed and Nancy Koory (Frackville); a sister, Carole Heloskie (Plymouth Meeting); two grandsons, Nathaniel and Paul; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for George will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Nice-Hart Funeral Home, 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA 17931, with the Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. Friends may call from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 33 S. Broad Mountain Ave., Frackville, PA 17931, and Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901. Burial with military honors will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
