Joan A. McKenzie , 80, of 421 Roosevelt Drive, New Boston, died Thursday May 21, 2015 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton.
Born at Ashland State Hospital, November 2, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma Mae (Gouldner) Sherry.
She was a graduate of Gilberton High School.
Joan was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Frackville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis McKenzie in 1995, 4 Sisters; 8 Brothers and a Daughter- in- Law Donna McKenzie.
Surviving are son Frank McKenzie and his companion Lori Hasker of Frackville, 2 daughters Sherry Tierney and her husband Barry of Barnesville; Joanne Keim and her companion John Savage of New Boston, 2 sisters Mae Thomas of Clifton Twp.; Janice Gregonis of North Wales, 8 Grandchildren Mark, Bryer, Brianna, Daniel, Regina, Patrick, Shannon, and Jesse; 4 Great Grandchildren James, Jenna, Andrew and Emerson.
Joan was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and enjoyed bird watching and camping. She was a very strong willed person and will be missed by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 26 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 14 North Nice Street Frackville with. Rev. Robert Finlan officiating. . Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National MS Society 30 South 17th Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville.
