Joseph A. “Junior” Rady, 76, of Saint Clair, loving husband for 54 years of Donna (Uhrin) Rady, passed away Tuesday August 2, 2022, at LVHN Schuylkill.

Joe was born in Pottsville in December of 1945.  He was a son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Meloditz) Rady.

Joe was a 1964 graduate of Saint Clair Area High School, where he was a three-letter man.  He excelled in basketball, baseball, and football, and he was a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council.  He briefly attended Kutztown University before being drafted into the U.S. Army.

Joe’s greatest adventure was serving as a Communications and Cryptographic Specialist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  From 1967-1970, he trained in Fort Jackson, SC and Fort Monmouth, NJ, and was stationed at Fort Monroe, VA.

After returning to civilian life, he worked for many years at the former Argo/Tiffany Mills as a Knitting Machine Technician.  Continuing with his love for sports, he spent many years coaching baseball for the Saint Clair Little League and basketball for the Saint Clair Boys’ Biddy Basketball League.

From there, he moved on to the U.S. Postal Service where he was a Maintenance Technician in Reading.  Upon his retirement, Joe spent time woodworking, discussing politics and history, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Joe was always known for his quick wit, frugal sense, and love for his poodles, Abby and Brandy.  He was very generous and would always extend a hand to help whoever needed it.  He was also an avid photographer, and his usual assignment was “the family photographer”.  Cooking was another passion, and Joe enjoyed making and sharing halupki and other family recipes.

Joe was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 38, Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Rady.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Donna, are his daughter Stephanie Rady and husband Joseph Price of Hackettstown, NJ, and son Jeffrey Rady and his wife Carolina Mendoza of Parkesburg, PA; five grandchildren, including twins Dylan and Maxwell Price and John, Mary, and Adam Rady; two adoring sisters, Barbara Swantner and her husband Ronald of Saint Clair and Diana Marx and her husband Thomas of Pottsville; Many Loving and Supportive Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Funeral Services will be Private at the request of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901 in memory of Joseph.  Burial with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
