Martha N. Dodds

Martha (Nahas) Dodds, 96, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Saint Clair, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4th at Seton Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past few years.  Born on October 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Jabron) Nahas and grew up in Frackville until her marriage to her husband, George P. Dodds in 1948.  They raised their family in Saint Clair and spent 68 years happily married until George’s passing in 2016.   Mrs. Dodds was a devoted member of Saint Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church where she proudly served on the church sodality and in the choir.   During her years in St. Clair, she was also a member of the Junior Women’s Club.  Martha was employed by A & P Supermarkets and after retirement she and her husband spent many winter months vacationing in Florida.  Martha enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafting, and attending her grandchildren’s many sporting and musical events.  Nothing was more precious to Martha than her family. 

She is survived by her children: Robert and his wife Paula of Orwigsburg, Dennis and his wife Donna of Valpariso, IN., Maureen and her husband Dr. Peter Nicholas of Leesport and Dr. George and his wife Dr. Federica Morandi of Knoxville, TN.  Of her seven siblings, she is survived by her sisters, Josephine Swirsky of New Ringgold and Betty Gough of Phoenix, AZ, and her sister -in-law, Olga Nahas of Frackville.  Martha, has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30Am Saturday June 19, 2021from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair, PA 17970.  Friends may call from 9:30AM-10:30 AM at the church.  In Lieu of flowers contributions will be made to the St. Claire of Assisi Memorial Fund at the above address.  Burial will be in Queen of Universe Cemetery, Peach Mountain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Clare of Assisi on a later date at the discretion of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E Hancock St., St. Clair, PA.  Martha and George’s tombstone over their final resting place states… “Together Forever” and so it will be.

To the children of my dearest Aunt Martha, your mom and dad were the greatest. The truest meaning of love and affection for one and all. I think I was fifty and she would always remember my birthday with a card and a buck.
And that smile which she always had. George and Martha left me memories which I will always cherish.
