MaryLouise Bicht Heller, 87, of Pottsville died very peacefully on Sunday evening November 15, 2015 at The Schuylkill Centre, Pottsville PA.
MaryLouise was born in Pottsville on January 3rd, 1928 and was the second daughter of Clarence Gottleib and Mary Ellinger Folk Bicht. Her sister, Betty Virginia Bicht Rescorla, preceded her in death during the 1996 World Series.
MaryLouise was a member of the 1945 Graduating Class of Pottsville High School. During her high school years, she was a volunteer for the Office of Civilian Defense charged by FDR to promote protective measures such as assisting with air raid drills and elevating local morale by closing the air raid curtains at Club 18.
MaryLouise was accepted at Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing; however, her parents protested her move to New York. Instead, she attended the original Penn State Schuylkill Campus on Howard Avenue and majored in Pinochle until she decided to transfer to a New York City Medical Technology program. Following her graduation, MaryLouise moved to Florida and worked as a Medical Technician at the VA Hospital in Miami. She returned to PA in the early 50s and worked at Philadelphia’s Hahnemann Hospital, The University of Pennsylvania Hospital, and The Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic. Always one for new and different activities… MaryLouise was a frequent on-call Dental Assistant, Real Estate Agent, Kitchen Designer, and Jack-of-all-Trades!!
MaryLouise was preceded by her husband, Dr. Frederick Kohler Heller, in 1988 and her daughter, Suzanne Clarissa Heller, in 2002.
Survivors include her children…Martha Cole Heller, her husband John H Fahnestock, Frederick Kohler Heller and his wife Sherry Culbert Heller.
Her Grandchildren….Kathryn Cole DiCello, Heather Lynne Yuda, Bradley Lawrence Yuda, Rachele Lynne Heller, and Geoffrey Kohler Heller
Her Great-Grandchildren…..Jaelyn Cole Carter, Emma Elizabeth McNulty, and a Beautiful Bun In The Oven.
And….a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends!
MaryLouise’s family have planned funeral services for Saturday November 21, 2015 at Pottsville’s Trinity Episcopal Church 200 S. Centre St. Pottsville. Please join us to share tales of your times with MaryLouise between 12 noon and 1PM. The Reverend Cannon Clifford B. Carr will officiate her funeral service beginning at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to The Trinity Episcopal Church at the above address or the Pottsville Public Library 215 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901.
