Phillip A Podolick, 68, of Mount Penn, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, in the Hershey Medical Center after a long and courageous battle, surrounded by his wife and family members. He was the husband of Janice Kromer Podolick with whom he celebrated 32 years of blissful marriage last year. Phil was a 1964 graduate of St. Clair High School, a 1968 graduate of Penn State (BS, Electrical and Environmental Engineering), and later received his MBA in Finance. He was employed as a Consulting Engineer by Gilbert Commonwealth and Philadelphia Suburban Corporation Environmental (ACER) until his retirement in 1992 which provided the opportunity for him to pursue his dreams. Phil had articles published in the PA Water Environment Association magazine and other publications. He was an Expert Witness and gave testimony in court proceedings as well as to the early US Senate hearings on environmental standards. With a lifetime passion for history, Phil opened book kiosks in several antique malls in Eastern Pennsylvania and in 1998 opened the Tomes of Glory Bookshop in Valley Forge and Phoenixville, a used and antiquarian book shop specializing in History and Military History subject matter. Under Phil’s guidance the bookshop became one of the largest bookshops of its’ kind on the east coast and was featured in the Philadelphia Inquire and other local newspapers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece, Nancy Cooper, Collegeville, a nephew, Michael A. Myro, Orwigsburg, and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Kostinko) and Anthony Padolick; his sisters, Jerrussel "Jerry" Cooper, Dorothy Cromyak, and Patricia "Tish" Myro. . A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North 2nd Street, St. Clair, PA.
