Helen Gombar , 88, of 15 West Carroll Street, St. Clair, died Monday at Mifflin Center, Shillington PA.
Born in Frackville, June 19, 1925, She was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Shabowski) Melnic.
She was 1943 graduate of St. Clair High School.
Helen founded Gombar's Fabrics in 1965, turning her love for sewing into a career. She brought much joy to her costumers making hats and costumes for rent until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair; Slovak Ladies Association; former St. Clair 4H Club; a Capital Trailway's Bus Tour Guide; and enjoyed Camping.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Gombar on June 15, 2005; a sister Mary Cheripka and great granddaughter Alexandra.
Surviving are 2 daughters Helen Kadingo and her husband Joseph of Stevens; Mary Beth Gombar of St. Clair; a son Francis Gombar of Phoenix, AZ; brother Michael Melnic of Orwigsburg; 2 Grandchildren Nicole Pierce and Jason Kadingo; 4 Great Grandchildren Luke, Clara, Liam and Logan; Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Friday at The Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home 110 N. Second St. St. Clair, PA 17970 Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM from Immaculate Conception Church, 6 Caroline Ave. St. Clair with Rev. William Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday and 8:30-9:30AM Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
