Melvin Martin, 75, of Frackville, passed away Sunday December 15, 2024 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Fountain Springs, May 29, 1949, He was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Pribulick) Martin.
Melvin was a 1969 graduate of North Schuylkill High School. He was employed for 30 years for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at various State General Hospitals and Military Affairs.
Mel was a member of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville; Life Member of Altamont Fire Company; Friendship Fire Co; Amvets Post 180 where he served as Dipper; St Francis Social Club, Shamokin; Shamokin Moose lodge 1149 and PA Member Retired Employee Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers Very Rev. Joseph Martin and Frederick Martin.
Surviving are his fiance of Marilyn Connell of Girardville; 2 brothers David Martin and his wife Cheryl of Harrisburg; Paul “Pepper” Martin of Frackville; 2 Sisters-in-law Matushka Gloria Martin & Carol Martin; Nieces, Nephews; Great Nieces, Nephews and a Great-great Nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Friday December 20, 2024 at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 209 S. Lehigh Ave. Frackville, PA 17931. Rev. Kirill Zawatski will be officiating; Friends may call from 5:00- 7:00 PM Thursday when Panachida will be celebrated and 9:00-10:00 AM Friday at the church. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Ascension Memorial Fund at the above address or St. Tikhon’s Seminary PO Box 130, South Canaan, PA 18459for the Joseph and Anna Martin Scholarship Fund. Burial will be in Holy Ascension Cemetery, Frackville.
